Tiklop

Last Sunday was a good day to ride a bike — a folding bike, that is.

ProbeTV covered the launch of Bike o2, or the Bike On and Bike Off Project that allows folding bikes on both LRT lines (Baclaran to Monumento and Santolan Pasig to Recto)!

I saw so many bike enthusiasts who brought their folding bikes to be part of this historic train ride. Its so great to see that there are people who care about cleaner air and want to promote a healthier lifestyle, especially in our smog filled city.

Normally only four FBUs or Folding Bike Users will be allowed on each train. But for the launch, more than 50 foldable bikes, their riders, media and special guests packed into the train. We boarded at the Cubao – Araneta Center station and got off at Legarda.

This is one of the rare times I say we should laud our government! The LRTA is a government owned corporation — kudos to the Light Rail Transit Administration. Of course we should pat the backs of the stakeholders and the groups who also made this happen — the Firefly Brigade, Padyak Project Foundation, Tiklop Society and the UP Mountaineers. Mabuhay kayo!

But some sad news, normal bikes are still not allowed on the trains. But folding bikes is a good start!
